BIRD WATCHING IN PUERTO VALLARTA
The Pacific slope surrounding Banderas Bay is an exciting area to watch birds. With tours for both the beginner and advanced bird watcher, Discover Pacific Tours opens the door for you to explore the exhuberant vegetation where an immense array of birds feeds and nests.
SEASON
Tours are available year-round on an on-request basis. There are two types of tours, depending on your interest and experience level. They are the coastal and marshland bird tour and the mountain slope bird tour.
COASTAL AND MARSHLAND BIRD WATCHING TOUR
Recommended for the beginner bird watcher, this tour goes to coastal ponds where you can see night herons, egrets, avocets, sandpipers, kingfishers, and many other species.
MOUNTAIN BIRD WATCHING TOUR
In this tour we go to the mountains on the south side of the bay where we find Rufous-capped Warbler, Orange-breasted Bunting, Gray-crowned Woodpecker, San Blas Jay, Rusty-crowned Ground Sparrow, Russet-crowned Motmot, and the list just goes on and on!
TOUR HOURS AND DEPARTURE LOCATIONS
All tours depart from Puerto Vallarta at sunrise (the actual time depends on the season), returning at around 12:30 in the afternoon. We have several easy-to-get-to points of departure, depending on the type of tour and on your hotel's location, so please check directly with your guide.
